Welcome back Energy fans. Can you believe that the season almost upon us? It seems like just yesterday that Courtney Sims was making his whirlwind tour of call ups, and Othyus Jeffers was raising the D-League Rookie of the Year trophy above his head at Wells Fargo Arena.
This season is extremely exciting from a number of standpoints. As you probably heard, the Energy are playing 75% of our home games on the weekend this year!! All of us that have played basketball have thought about it. Some may have even believed it. Do I have what it takes to play in the NBA?
Well Dustin from one of our favorite blogs, the Phoenix Suns centered, “Bright Side of the Sun” blog, took his shot at answering this question. He decided to take his chances and run with the rest of the 35 players trying out at the Energy’s Phoenix tryout this past Saturday. Do yourself a favor and read the story about his experience.
Thanks again to Dustin and the fellas at “Bright Side of the Sun” for their effort. Awesome work. And to all of those who want to take their shot, try-outs in Chicago are October 24th and try-outs in Des Moines are October 31st. To register go to iowanba.com and keep on living the dream!
We all remember Shannon Brown’s fantastic stint in Des Moines, when he averaged almost 26 points per game before being called up to the NBA. Brown showed the Energy then what he is capable of and he has brought that explosiveness to the NBA.
After helping the Los Angeles Lakers to an NBA title last season, he was rewarded with a two-year contract. He has picked up right where he left off last season. Check this throw down on another former NBA D-Leaguer Mikki Moore!
